Vehicle Fire Investigations for Car Owners
My car caught on fire. Can I hire you to tell me why?
The desire for answers is a normal human response.
But the answer is, NO, you probably don’t need to hire your own fire investigator.
If you have car insurance, your insurance company will assign a claims rep and possibly a vehicle fire investigator to investigate your loss. For uninsured losses with damage confined to one car with no injuries, no deaths or damage to adjacent vehicles and/or structures; hiring a private car fire investigator is, in most cases, not worth the cost.
You’ll want an independent fire investigation if: you’ve been accused of arson, it was a very high value car, there were injuries or deaths, or there was damage to adjacent vehicle, structures or other property. In these situations, you will want to hire a fire investigator through your attorney.
